Cast Iron Teapot with Hailstone Pattern in Black - 1.2 litre
This product is unavailable
This Tetsubin teapot is decorated with a traditional black Hobnail design.
Due to its strength of construction, this cast iron teapot can be used as either a kettle, or it can be used to brew loose leaf tea in.
This pot is enamelled on the inside to promote years of use, and to prevent rust and oxidisation.
The pot also comes equipped with its own stainless steel mesh infuser. A Cast iron teapot will keep your tea warm for nearly an hour. The addition of a removable stainless steel basket (supplied with this teapot) means that the tea can be brewed for the optimal length of time and then removed from the teapot, so that the perfectly brewed tea remains warm without over-extracting and getting bitter. Sit back and relax, knowing that you can pour another cup when you need it.
In 17th century Japan, cast iron teapots became popular with the rise of loose leaf tea consumption- an alternative to the ritualistic drinking of powdered Green Tea (Matcha), which was favoured by the ruling class. Later cast iron teapots became highly decorative status symbols, and were often given as gifts.
Basic care is needed to keep the teapot dry after usage.
Detailed instructions are provided with this teapot on its care and usage.
